Dust off that sewing machine and warm up that iron! I'm pleased to announce the plans are full-steam ahead:
Kit club logo web
It's been nearly 2 years since this idea was first born. Lots of life events have eaten up my time--all really great things-- new houses, raising babies...you know, LIFE!-- but it's time to realize this dream.  Watch for more updates and sneak peeks in the very near future.

Ding, ding, ding

We have a winner! Chosen by random number generator,

Spring-apron-winner

who said:
This spring I am grateful for any sun spots we get. I love all the beautiful flowers blooming too.

.......................................................................

Thanks to all who entered! Looks like there are lots of us love spring blossoms and sunshine.  Speaking of shine, my littlest one is sporting his very first "SHINER". (Cheesy segue, I know.) Poor bug bonked on the entertainment armoire last night. Wobbly and exceptionally short legs + shaky balance+ a busy Mommy making dinner = The perfect storm for a black eye. *sigh* Is it just me, or is it a miracle the 3rd one even survives?? Poor little honey...

Ok, email me, Jessica, and I'll get your apron packed right up and shipped off. :)

Spring Fever

I remember years ago, at least 15, when I used to do gymnastics competitively. It would take months of hard work to master a new trick, and then only a couple weeks vacation to completely lose it all. It seems blogging must be similar as I'm still dusting off my old bag of tricks and getting back into the swing of things.  Please don't mind me as I try and fumble my way around...I'll get the hang of it. Eventually.
Spring-apron-giveaway
I'm still working out the kinks in the surprise I "teased" you with. (I know, LAME!) I just want it to be perfect before I share-- and like I said, I'm a bit rusty. Instead, do you mind a giveaway?  It's been so cold here we've all been suffering with horrible spring fever.  Even my winter-loving 3-year-old Gray is saying, "I'm 'borned' (bored!) of snow!!"  It finally warmed up today (60 beautiful degrees) and we were able to get out and enjoy the sunshine. On our walk Olivia and I both shared what we were grateful for-- Me: the crocus blossoms just starting to peek out from under the ground. Olivia: the neighbor's chickens! :) Ahh to be 6 again...

**OK, all you have to do to enter the giveaway is leave a comment sharing something you're thankful for this spring-- it can be anything! Easy-peasy, right? A winner will be drawn randomly next Friday, April 24th. (International readers are welcome.)**

Happy Easter

Easter_2009
I wanted to pop in quick and wish you all a very happy Easter.  It's been far too long and I miss you, my old blogging friends. Check back next week for an overdue surprise.  (<------ yes, that was an official teaser.)

October 21, 2008

He's gotten a bad rap, poor little Tay-goo. ;) Sure, the babe never sleeps, but you can't tell me he's not sweet!

Smoosher

He's 5 months old tomorrow. Can you believe it? FIVE MONTHS!
-Already 15 pounds!
-Reaches out to grab things
-Likes to suck on his BIG TOE!
-Rolls from back to tummy
-Not quite sure about the rice cereal
-Hates baths
-Loves snuggles

And can you guess what my favorite part is?? Yep, that smooshie little dimple in his left cheek.

**crossing fingers**

Everything is set to post at noon. I sure hope this works!! Email me if you have any trouble at all seeing the goods.

Here's a funny for the day-
I received a call yesterday reminding me of Gray & Teague's well-baby checks. This 5 second phone call solidified one of my biggest fears, while making me sob with laughter at the same time.

Verbatim:
"Ms. Hendricks?" she asked.
"This is she." I replied
"I'm calling to remind you of Gray and "Tay-goo's" appointments tomorrow." she stuttered.
**busting up laughing so hard I can barely speak** "Thanks!" I squeaked.

"TAY-GOO"?  HA!!  Please tell me you all don't think we named our child "TAY-GOO"!! It's Teague. Just like "league" spelled with a T. You knew that...........right??? *sigh* Oh gads, what have I done?!

Crybaby

I'd cry like this too if my mom named me "TAY-GOO" and shoved me in a basket! :)

*Yaaawwwn*

I'm tired. Plain exhausted, really. Have I mentioned that the newest little pumpkin doesn't like to sleep? He doesn't. EVER. Combine the lack of z's with my horrible eating habits, and it was bound to catch up with me sometime. I caught the sniffles about a month ago, which then turned into a sinus infection, leaving this momma even more drained (and boogery! ICK!!) than ever.  I'm seriously just now getting back on top of things. Phew.

I did a boutique this past weekend-- lots of fun, but I have LOTS of stuff left over. I'd made a bunch of these cute little girl sized *apron skirts* thinking people would love them, and none of them sold. Not one! And they are sooo adorable. Serves me right for thinking! ;) Anyhow, I'll list them in the shop, along with a new apron. I hope you'll like them!
Shopupdate_2

OH!! I almost forgot!! The "Nie" apron--  I've been meaning to mention this forever. THANK YOU to all who purchased both aprons and kits. I received so many kind and generous emails of people wanting to buy more. I wish so badly that I had more of the fabric and could've made many, many more. Unfortunately it was out of print and no where to be found. I will, however, be putting another "Nie" inspired design up very soon. It won't be with Thursday's update, but I promise it'll be soon, along with another special apron-themed announcement of how you can help.

Ok, I'm really going now. Before I do, any advice to get T-bug to sleep? I swear we've tried everything we know of with no luck. Swing, Babywise, co-sleeping, white noise...

The least I can do

Every so often, while blog surfing, I click on a link and immediately feel a sense of kinship. Almost as if a long lost sister's been found. This is how I felt when I started reading "The NieNie Dialogues" over a year ago.  Stepha'nie' so beautifully shares little glimpses into her life-- Passion for her 4 small children, good cooking, posh decorating, and fabulous red lipstick worn during romantic dates with her darling husband... She's absolutely INSPIRING in every sense of the word. Unfortunately, sometimes very bad things happen to good people. Dear Stephanie and her new pilot husband were in a plane crash last weekend. I've just been sick about it, and continue to pray for them constantly. It breaks my heart for the pain they've been through, and will continue to go through over the next many, many months as they heal. (You can read about their progress here. Thank you, C. Jane, for keeping us updated!!) As we can all imagine, in a situation like this the hospital bills are sure to be horrendous! There have been donation accounts set up on their behalf and I'd love to help in any way I can.
Apronsfornie
I'd be just tickled if you want to help me in giving! There are new aprons/kits over in the shop.

Have a beautiful and SAFE weekend, friends~
Kim

***Update: Oh my good gracious! All the 'Nie' aprons sold (and then some!!!) by 10:00 a.m. Entire bolts of fabric all used up-- POOF!  THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart! I'll put more up very soon.***

***LAST update, I swear! (Sorry bloglines and google-reader users! ;) I should've mentioned this before: If you'd like to kindly donate directly to the Nielson family, you can do so by clicking on this cute button.

As good as new

A long overdue post to thank you all for the prayers, emails, and phone calls. After a few short weeks, our little man is absolutely perfect again. He's got a pretty good sized scar on his tummy to remind us all of his adventure. Besides that, he's no worse for the wear. We're so very thankful!
Teague
I broke out the camera this afternoon to snap a few shots and capture this sweet little baby's personality.  I'm sure I've got inch-thick "Mommy goggles" on, but he's just as handsome as they come.  A perfect mixture of his older bro & sis, it's hard to tell who he looks like most.  At 2 months he's more than DOUBLED his birth weight. Amazing! He's got rolls upon rolls, with his arms and legs looking like they're being squeezed by rubber-bands. He's a snuggler and loves his Mommy-- probably because I'm the one with the food! :)

I'm getting the itch start creating again. My brain seemed to be on hiatus while babe was cooking, but the ideas are flowing full force. The challenge is trying to decide what direction to head now that time is a bit more limited... thinking about taking the jump into manufacturing (SCARY!)...wondering if aprons are phasing out (Are they??)... not knowing who to contact, and what questions to ask (Ideas?)...really just trying to focus and use the time that I do have, wisely.  I've had an amazing response to the kits and would love to offer some more advanced patterns. I'm just not quite sure how to go about it all yet. Lets go on this journey together, shall we?

June 18, 2008

prayers please

If you're the praying type, please say a little one for our sweet Teague Andrew-- we just found out he has to have surgery tomorrow on his little tummy.  :(
THANK YOU, sweet friends!!!
Kim

** Update: We're home, and everything is going well. Baby Teague did GREAT and is getting back to normal. Thank you so much for all of your prayers, emails, and phone calls. It's so comforting to have such supportive and loving friends and family. Love you all!**
